Overview

Harvard Public Affairs & Communications acts as liaison between the University and its many public audiences, partners, and stakeholders, handling relations with Harvard’s host communities, state and federal governments, and the news media. The department also manages the events and information center, located in Holyoke Center.

The government relations team represents the University’s interests in legislation and regulation affecting higher education and maintains relationships with everyone from key thinkers on the national political scene to regulators to local lawmakers.

The community affairs team nurtures the relationship between the University and its host communities by working closely with local leaders, schools and educators and civic organizations in Boston and Cambridge, as well as other communities where Harvard has a presence.

The communications team manages the University’s outbound communications, serves as a resource to local, national and international media organizations, and manages the University’s online presence. It also provides a range of multimedia and photographic services, and it produces several print and online publications for the University, including harvard.edu and the Harvard University Gazette .
