RMO workshops to cover electronic record keeping

To help Harvard staff improve the organization of their files, the University's Records Management Office (RMO) is offering workshops on electronic record keeping. These workshops provide practical guidance on filing systems, filing rules and procedures, and equipment and supplies. This year, a new section will cover such issues as version control and naming conventions, and advice on how to use system properties to one's advantage.

While RMO's 45-minute workshop will be offered throughout the year, sessions are currently scheduled for Oct. 5, Oct. 24, and Nov. 9. Each workshop will be held at 10 a.m. in Pusey Library, and preregistration is required. To register, call the RMO at (617) 495-5961, or visit http://hul.harvard.edu/rmo/resources_01a.shtml. Drinks and snacks will be provided at each session.

As part of the Harvard University Archives, RMO is charged by the University to ensure the maintenance and disposition of Harvard records consistent with sound archival standards, budgetary considerations, and legal obligations. The office provides general assistance to University offices in the management of their records and information holdings. For more information, visit the RMO Web site at http://hul.harvard.edu/rmo.
