'Barry's Corner' in Allston gets greener
|

On Arbor Day, Havier Fonseca plants trees and shrubs.
|
Seventy-five trees have just been planted along North Harvard Street in an effort to improve the look and feel around Harvard property in Allston. Located at 175 to 210 North Harvard Street (in the area traditionally referred to as "Barry's Corner") and at Brighton Mills Shopping Center, the trees, shrubs, and other landscape improvements are the first in a series of Harvard-funded community enhancements and programs that were announced by the city of Boston and Harvard University this past winter. Other efforts include aiding in the creation of a city of Boston career and business resource center, providing relocation assistance for Harvard commercial tenants displaced by Harvard's future redevelopment, and making visual improvements to Smith Field, a neighborhood park.
