Five receive 2005 Gates Scholarships

Four seniors and one graduate from Harvard University have been selected Gates Scholars. Now in its fifth cycle, the scholarship program - set up by a trust from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation - allows gifted students the opportunity to continue graduate study at the University of Cambridge in England. These five students join 38 candidates from the United States to be offered Gates Scholarships.

The Gates Scholars

Nathaniel Craig '05 of Sacramento, Calif., plans to pursue a certificate of advanced study in applied mathematics.

Anna Dolganov '05 of San Carlos, Calif., will study for a master's degree in classics.

Paul Rubio M.A. '02 of Plantation, Fla., plans to pursue a Ph.D. in economics.

Lina Sestokas '05 of Media, Pa., plans to study for a master's degree in biological science.

Rebecca Wexler '05 of Hamden, Conn., will pursue a master's degree in history and philosophy of science.

At the University of Cambridge, these Harvard graduates will join an international field of Gates Scholars studying arts, science, humanities, social science, technology, and medicine.
