Center for Health and Global Environment honors Moyers

The Center for Health and the Global Environment at Harvard Medical School (HMS) recently presented broadcast journalist Bill Moyers with its 2004 Global Environmental Citizen Award. Moyers, who is retiring on Dec. 17, has hosted and produced the weekly PBS series "NOW with Bill Moyers" since its launch in 2002. During that time, "NOW" has produced dozens of stories on an array of topics ranging from global warming to genetically modified food.
"Bill Moyers is a talented journalist who has proven himself time and again with resourceful, thought-provoking pieces focused on some of today's toughest environmental issues," said Eric Chivian, director of the center and a former co-recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize.
Actress Meryl Streep, a board member of the Center for Health and the Global Environment, presented the award to Moyers at a Dec. 1 ceremony in New York City.
Dept. of Education approves Extension School program
The Harvard Extension School recently announced that the K-12 Instructional Technology Licensure concentration of the Certificate in Technologies of Education program has been designated an Approved Educator Preparation Program by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Education.
Under the authority of the certification law (M.G.L. Chapter 71, Section 38G), Commissioner of Education David Driscoll reviewed the program evaluation report for the licensure program and granted approval through 2008.
