Weissman program to send 31 interns across globe

For the past 11 years, the Weissman International Internship Program, established by Paul ('52) and Harriet Weissman in 1994, has provided nearly 200 sophomores and juniors with the opportunity to participate in an international internship in a field of work related to their academic and career goals. The Weissman program enables students to develop a richer understanding of the global community in which they live and work, and provides an opportunity for them to share their experiences with the Harvard community when they return.

This year's 31 Weissman interns will work in a wide range of private and public sector organizations in the arts, business, education, international development, government, law, medicine, public service, and science. Six of the 23 countries that the interns will visit this year are new destinations for the Weissman program. They are Cameroon, Chile, Iceland, Lebanon, Qatar, and Tanzania.

The 2004 Weissman International Internship Program recipients are Alexandra Atiya '06, Miya Bernson '06, Yaa Bruce '05, Kern Chen '05, Teddy Chestnut '06, Kiran Deol '05, Peter Dodd '06, Danielle Fishman '05, Kirsten Frieda '06, Tsitsi Gora '05, Katherine Jarvis-Shean '05, Norifumi Kamo '05, Tamara Klajn '05, Andrea Mayrose '06, Lucy Moore '06, Eric Nguyen '06, Kathryn Nielson '05, Nenna Nwazota '06, Shola Olorunnipa '05, Annelisa Pedersen '06, Christopher Platts '06, Bridget Queenan '06, Andrew Rabens '05, Stephen Robbins '05, Ben Robinson '06, Kyle Scherer '05, Lewis Slack '06, Katherine Stanchik '06, Katharine Valente '06, Jacob Welch '06, and Thomas Widland '06.
