At its ninth meeting of the year (March 10), the Faculty Council discussed with Professor Thomas Kelly, chair of the Department of Music, a proposed agreement with the New England Conservatory of Music under which undergraduates would be able to complete an A.B. degree at Harvard and a Master of Music degree at the Conservatory in five years.
The Council also discussed with Professor Paul Martin (physics), dean for Research and Information Technology, and Franklin Steen, director of Harvard Arts and Sciences Computer Services, new information technology resources available to faculty and students in FAS.
Finally, Professors Marjorie Garber (English), chair of the Department of Visual and Environmental Studies, and Eric Rentschler (German) reported on a new option in Film Studies for concentrators in VES.
The Faculty Meeting set for Tuesday, March 16, has been canceled. The Council next meets on March 24.
