Conference to explore belonging, exclusion
Philosophers, artists, historians, and scholars will convene today (Feb. 19) and Friday (Feb. 20) at Agassiz Theatre for "Cultural Citizenship: Varieties of Belonging." Organized by the Radcliffe Institute, the conference will feature a performance by actor, playwright, professor, and former Bunting fellow Anna Deavere Smith, and a conversation on "Citizenship and Belonging in the Middle East." Homi Bhabha, the Anne F. Rothenberg Professor of English and American Literature and Language, will moderate the event.
Seating for the conference, which is free and open to the public, is on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information, visit http://www.radcliffe.edu.
HARVie launched
On Wednesday (Feb. 18), HARVie - Harvard's new intranet resource for employees - was up and running. At harvie.harvard.edu, University employees are able to report time and labor, find out about benefits and services, access PeopleSoft, and get the latest University announcements. Employees can purchase tickets via credit card from Outings & Innings, and access "Harvard in the News," the daily clipping service.
To gain access to HARVie, you will need your Harvard ID number and a PIN (the same one used for PeopleSoft or HOLLIS). If you don't have a PIN, visit http://www.pin.harvard.edu to get one.
Is there a docent in the house?
The Semitic Museum at Harvard University is looking for volunteer docents to guide tours for the new exhibit "The Houses of Ancient Israel: Domestic, Royal, Divine." Training will begin later this month. E-mail kconnors@fas.harvard.edu for more information.
