Seeking the sights of New England
Writer of local landscape history and Harvard University staff member Chris Lenney stands before the Christ Church rectory on Garden Street in Harvard Square. The house was built in 1820.The twin rearwall chimney house is a neglected icon of the New England landscape, Lenney says. It may have one, two, or three stories, but it is always two rooms wide, one room deep, and has the telltale twin chimneys along the back wall. Lenney has published his first book incorporating such observations, "Sightseeking: Clues to the Landscape History of New England." (Staff photo by Rose Lincoln) Full story
