Dunlop Lecture focuses on 'American Dream'

The Joint Center for Housing Studies will hold the fourth annual John T. Dunlop Lecture on Feb. 4 at the National Housing Center in Washington, D.C. The lecture, titled "The American Dream of Homeownership: From Cliché to Mission," honors Lamont University Professor Emeritus John T. Dunlop for his distinguished career at the University, in government, and in the private sector. Angelo R. Mozilo, of Countrywide Financial Services, presents this year's talk. The lecture is sponsored by the National Housing Endowment.

Angelo R. Mozilo, who co-founded Countrywide Financial Corp. (NYSE: CFC) in 1969, is the company's chairman, president, and chief executive officer. He also serves as chairman of Countrywide Home Loans Inc., the company's main subsidiary. Mozilo was the 1991-92 president of the Mortgage Bankers Association of America (MBA), and continues to serve on the MBA board of directors. He also is a member of the Policy Advisory Board of the Harvard Joint Center for Housing Studies.

The Dunlop Lecture Series honors a distinguished member of the Harvard community in recognizing the contributions of Professor John T. Dunlop. In addition to serving as chairman of the Economics Department and dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Dunlop was U.S. secretary of labor during the Ford administration. He has had a lifetime career in mediation, arbitration, and dispute resolution. He was made a member of the National Housing Hall of Fame by the National Association of Home Builders in 1986. He also serves on the board of the National Housing Endowment. In 1971, Dunlop played a key role in establishing the Policy Advisory Board of the Joint Center for Housing Studies.
