Climate topic of 'town meeting':Fundraising symposium and dinner sponsored by Museum of Natural History
There is a growing consensus among scientists that inhabitants of the Earth are facing more-than-minor climate changes in the coming years. What are the nature of these changes? Are they inevitably negative, and if so, what are the solutions? A group of leading scientists and experts will wrangle over these questions at a fundraising symposium and dinner at the Harvard Museum of Natural History on Saturday (Nov. 16).
The discussion will focus on the ramifications of our current lifestyle choices and economic policies on climate change. Each panelist will be invited to speak briefly about his or her area of expertise followed by a lively "town meeting" style debate. The audience will be encouraged to seek solutions and to ask, "What can we do?" Audience participation is strongly encouraged.
The event begins at 5 p.m. with a moderated "Town Meeting Forum" in the Geological Lecture Hall, 24 Oxford St. The forum will be followed by a reception, then dinner and discussion.
