"The Kuwait Program is an important pillar of the Kennedy School's efforts to engage the Gulf countries on the challenges of globalization, governance, and security in the 21st century," said Andrew Parasiliti, director of the Kennedy School's Middle East Initiative.

In addition to Parasiliti, KSG faculty members who participated in the program included Jeffrey Frankel, Deborah Hurley, Jessica Stern, and John White, faculty chair of KSG's Kuwait Program and Middle East Initiative.

The Kuwait Program has also announced the first Kuwait Program Research Fund grant recipients to Harvard faculty members. The recipients and their research are as follows:

Robert Stavins, Albert Pratt Professor of Business and Government and faculty chair of the Environment and Natural Resources Program at KSG, for research on the economic dimensions of environmental policy. Stavins' research will focus on the potential of price and non-price water conservation policies as scarcity management tools.

Brian Mandell, lecturer in Public Policy at KSG, to support the development of an experiential exercise in negotiation focusing on water resource management in the Gulf for use in KSG's Executive Education Programs.

Graham Allison, director of the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at KSG, Andrew Parasiliti, and John White, for a collaborative research project dealing with U.S. policy in the Gulf region.
