Community Service Day at HMS

The eighth annual Ebert Community Service Day will take place Thursday, Oct. 19, at 1:30 p.m. in the atrium of the Medical Education Center at Harvard Medical School. An informative afternoon of food and fun, this event is an opportunity for dental and medical students to learn how they can become involved in the community organizations and neighborhoods that surround the Harvard medical complex. Historically, students have volunteered at sites in Mission Hill, Roxbury, Dorchester, and Jamaica Plain.

More than 35 agencies representing a wide range of community issues will attend this informative event. They include Healthcare for the Homeless, the Active Girls Initiative, the Asian Task Force Against Domestic Violence, the Martha Eliot Health Center, and the Latino Health Institute, among others. In addition, through words and pictures, several student posters will explain and depict various community projects that are active throughout the city.

The Dean's Community Service Awards will also recognize faculty, staff, and students who have made outstanding efforts in serving their local and international communities.
