Boating Blooms

This past Monday was opening day for intramural spring rowing, which includes the house crew program. Close to 400 students in men's, women's, and co-ed boats from all 13 Harvard houses participate, making this one of the largest intramural programs in the entire country.

Rowers start practicing in March at the indoor tanks in Newell, then spend six weeks honing their technique on the Charles before season-ending races in early May. Despite the fact that crew requires considerable commitment and discipline, rowers return year after year, and many continue the sport long after they leave Harvard.

For information, or May race details, call (617) 495-2226.
