President to hold office hours for students

President Rudenstine will hold office hours for students in his Massachusetts Hall office on a first-come, first-served basis on Tuesday, Nov. 2, from 4 to 5 p.m.

Design School to cosponsor symposium on urban communities

The Graduate School of Design (GSD) and the Illinois Institute of Technology’s (IIT) College of Architecture are sponsoring a national symposium on "The Impact of Design in Urban Communities" on Oct. 29-30 at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago.

Focusing on the physical dimensions of inner-city community development, the symposium is the culminating event of a five-year partnership between Harvard and IIT in which students at both schools participated in joint design studios focusing on the Bronzeville community on Chicago's Near South side, a neighborhood that has undergone dramatic transformations over the the century.

Halloween Open House to be held at Museum of Natural History

The Harvard Museum of Natural History will become a super-natural history museum for one day this week, Sunday, Oct. 31. The Harvard community and the general public are invited – in costume – to an afternoon of activities, including making aliens, spooky flashlight tours of the Great Mammal Hall, meeting Fluffy the Tarantula, visiting dinosaurs, and celebrating the Day of the Dead with the Peabody Museum (next door). The Halloween fun takes place from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Museum, 26 Oxford St. The event is free with general admission ($5; students with ID, $4; ages 3-13, $3; under 3, free).
