BELOW: The only
way for contractors to place machinery into Widener Library's light courts
is to go up and over the three-story structure. A massive crane was erected
at the Mass. Ave. entrance to do the job. The crane, which is 180 feet tall
and has a 300-foot boom, had to be built in the Yard. It arrived from Texas
on 15 individual flatbed trailers and took five days to erect. Photo by
