Women Leaders Convene to Discuss Global Economic
Crises
A historic meeting of women financial leaders was held in Washington
last month, convened by the World Bank and the Kennedy School's Council
of Women World Leaders (CWWL) in conjunction with the Annual Meeting of
the World Bank and the IMF. The meeting, which drew high-level officials
from 28 developed and developing countries throughout Asia, Europe, Africa,
the United States and Latin America, was chaired by Alice Rivlin, vice-chair
of the U.S. Federal Reserve Board. The meeting focused on two central topics:
the global financial crises and post-conflict situations. "The participation
of women," said former Canadian Prime Minister Kim Campbell and Vice
Chair of CWWL "is an essential condition for a prosperous resilient
world."
