The Faculty Council held its eighth meeting of the year on Dec. 17, and its ninth on Jan. 7. At the meeting on Dec. 17, Provost Harvey Fineberg met with the Council to discuss the Interfaculty Initiatives. Professor Michael McElroy (Environmental Studies), chair of one of the Initiatives, participated in this conversation. The Council also, in considering its present role, reviewed the l969 legislation establishing the Council, and a history of its activities since then.

At the meeting on Jan. 7 the Council discussed with the Administrative Dean of the Faculty, Nancy Maull, several of the Faculty's building projects. The Council also met with the Registrar, Arlene Becella, the Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid in the Graduate School, Russell Berg, and the Director of Admissions for Harvard and Radcliffe Colleges, Marlyn McGrath Lewis, to consider changes in the handling of admissions fraud in the College and Graduate School. Finally, the Council briefly discussed Project ADAPT.

The next Faculty Meeting is on Feb. 10. The Council next meets on January 21.
