"Discover Islam" -- the topic of Islam Awareness Week 1997 -- is being sponsored by the Harvard Islamic Society.

The event begins with a talk by Aminah Assilmi on "Islam: Threat or Gift to America" at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 17, in Sever Hall, Room 113.

A student panel discussion will take place on the "Responsibilities of Success" at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 19, in Emerson Hall, Room 105.

The Islam Awareness Week Dinner will be held 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 21, at Harkness Dining Hall at the Law School. Tickets are $5 in advance or $6 at the door. The topic of the talk (by a speaker to be announced) will be "Jihad! In America?"

Throughout the week an exhibition will be on view in the Science Center.
