Provost Carnesale, President Wilson to hold office hours for students

Provost Albert Carnesale will hold office hours for students on Tuesday, April 15, from 4 to 5 p.m. in his Massachusetts Hall office. President Linda S. Wilson will hold office hours for students on Wednesday, April 16, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. in her Fay House office.

Office hours are held on a first-come, first-served basis.

Walk for Hunger participants to be sponsored by Community Affairs office

Those faculty, staff, and students who participate in the Walk for Hunger, either as walkers or volunteers, on Sunday, May 4, can be sponsored by the University's Office for Government, Community and Public Affairs at a rate of 50 cents for each mile walked and for each hour volunteered. For information, call 495-4955.

Wilson to give memorial lecture on Roger Tory Peterson

Edward O. Wilson, Pellegrino University Professor and curator of entomology, Museum of Comparative Zoology, will share his personal recollections of ornithologist Roger Tory Peterson in a memorial lecture on Sunday, April 13, at 4 p.m. in Science Center, Lecture Hall B.

The lecture is sponsored by the Museum of Cultural & Natural History, the Marshal's Office, Houghton-Mifflin, the Massachusetts Audubon Society, and the Nuttall Ornithological Club to commemorate the legacy of Peterson, author of Field Guide to the Birds, who died in 1996.

Boylston Prize Speaking Contest to take place

The preliminary competition for the Boylston Prize Speaking Contest will take place on Thursday, April 10, at 4 p.m. in Boylston Auditorium. The finals will be held on Thursday, April 17, at 8 p.m., also in Boylston Auditorium.

Students will deliver memorized selections from English, Greek, or Latin literature.

Daffodil Day fundraiser organized by Community Affairs office

Daffodil Day, an American Cancer Society fundraiser, recently raised about $24,000 from sales of daffodils around the University. The effort was organized by the Office of Government, Community and Public Affairs and involved the work of co-chairs Mary Beth Coles and Wendy Chandler, with assistance from Pat Delaney and Barbara Cowan.
