The Faculty Council, at its fifth meeting of the year, met with Professor Peter Marsden (Sociology), chair of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences Benefits Committee, to discuss the Annual Report of the University Benefits Committee, currently being distributed to members of the Faculty.

The Council also met with Professors Jorge Dominguez (Government) and Leo Lee (East Asian Languages and Civilizations), co-chairs of the Ethnic Studies Committee, to discuss a recent report of that Committee.

The Council also discussed with Dean Christoph Wolff (Music), Professor Patrick Ford (Celtic Languages and Literatures and chair of the Department), and Professor Mary Waters (Sociology and chair of the review committee) a recent review of the Celtic Department.

The Council also reviewed the final agenda for the Nov. 12 Faculty Meeting. On that agenda is a discussion of a status report on tenured faculty retirement in FAS and an update on the University Campaign. The preliminary agenda deadline for the December Faculty Meeting is Nov. 25. The next Faculty Council meeting will be Nov. 20.
