Physics Graduate Student Michail Dies in Car Crash
George Michail, a graduate student in the Department of Physics, died on Saturday, Oct. 5, from injuries suffered in a head-on automobile collision in Chicago with a drunk driver. Michail, born in Athens, Greece, received his B.S. in 1990 from the University of Athens, and his A.M. degree in 1993 from Harvard. He was president of the Harvard Hellenic Society from 1994 to 1995. Michail was doing research for his Ph.D. on heavy quark physics at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory. His supervisor was Physics Professor Melissa Franklin. Michail is survived by his wife, Stamatina Douki, and his mother, Spiroula Michail.
