Students available for odd jobs

Hiring students is easier than ever. The Student Employment Office invites prospective employers to post their own jobs on the new interactive jobs database located at: http://byerly.fas.harvard.edu/seo. Simply click on "Student Job Listings" and follow the prompts. If you are looking for a student with specific skills -- computers, typing, or childcare, for example -- click on "Student Skills Database" and follow the prompts. Faculty of Arts and Sciences professors needing undergraduate research assistants may apply for funding from the Faculty Aide Program by clicking on "Research Programs" and following the prompts.

Milton Fund applications sought

Research funds are available to faculty members of Harvard University through a bequest of William F. Milton. The Milton Fund supports studies of a medical, geographical, historical, or scientific nature, which must be either in the interests of promoting the physical and material welfare of the human race, or of investigating and determining the value and importance of a discovery or invention. Applicants must be members of the University with voting privileges in their respective faculties and must not have received Milton Fund support during the last five years. Preference is given to new and original projects, especially independent work of recently appointed young faculty members.

A formal application form is required and is available from Sponsored Programs Administration. The application form has been extensively revised. New application forms must be used. The deadline is Nov. 1 and the award amount is $12,000. For information, contact Liz Soares, 432-1596; fax: 432-2651; or email: esoares@warren.med.harvard.edu.
