Bellow wins Massachusetts Bar Association award

Law Professor Gary Bellow once worked on behalf of migrant laborers through California Rural Legal Assistance, establishing legal precedents and empowering poor clients. In recognition of that kind of work, the Massachusetts Bar Association has given Bellow its Lifetime Legal Services Achievement Award.

The award "honors a lawyer who has worked throughout his or her career to provide quality legal services to poor clients." Bellow, the Louis D. Brandeis Professor of Law, is also the founder of the Law School's Legal Services Center and faculty director of the School's Clinical Program.

Bellow oversees the clinical teaching program that takes place on campus and at the School's Criminal Justice Institute, the Cambridge-Somerville Legal Services Immigration Clinic in Cambridge, and the Hale and Dorr Legal Services Center in Jamaica Plain.
